I hope you don’t think I am complaining about the snow because it is beautiful and supposedly adds nitrogen to the soil, apparently sequestering it from the atmosphere, which helps in making our air cleaner and healthier. I am not sure if toxins are added to the soil when the snow melts, but our soil is healthy with plenty of microbial life since we use organic farming practices, so I am confident our soil will produce some incredibly tasty and healthy food this upcoming season!
![loop_trail_after_snowfall We have a loop trail around the farm that is a nice hike and this picture shows the trail covered in snow which was beautiful.](http://mountainharvestorganic.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/loop_trail_after_snowfall-1013x1024.jpg)
![old_tenet_cabin_in_snow This is the old tenet cabin that was a typical Appalachian Log Home. It has seen better days and was standing when we first started farming. Now it has fallen down so we will probably saw it into wood for heat.](http://mountainharvestorganic.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/old_tenet_cabin_in_snow-1024x768.jpg)
![old_car_from_the_fifties An early 1950 mercury car in the snow. We have plenty of old cars on this farm and have considered using them to generate additional revenue for the farm by renting them out by the hour for romantic vacations. These cars are equipped with roomy back seats and we could project a movie on the wind shield using a DVD player. Of course, we will need to call it a walk-in rather than a drive-in because I do not think these cars will be running again anytime soon.](http://mountainharvestorganic.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/old_car_from_the_fifties-1024x768.jpg)
![trees_with_snow The ridge is gorgeous with snow covered trees. A real photographer would be able to capture a photograph of how one sees the ridge after a snow storm. This photo does not do it justice. Sabrina, if you are reading, I hope you are taking photographs in your spare time!](http://mountainharvestorganic.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/trees_with_snow-766x1024.jpg)
![hiking_trail_with_snow_2011 This year would have been the perfect year for investing in snow shows or cross country skies! This is again our trail, covered in snow making for some difficult hiking, but we love hiking it.](http://mountainharvestorganic.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/hiking_trail_with_snow_2011-1024x767.jpg)

![bluff_mtn_between_snow_showers Bluff Mountain in-between snow storms. Lately we haven’t been able to see much of Bluff with all the snow storms but when it peeks out from behind the clouds it is stunningly beautiful!](http://mountainharvestorganic.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/bluff_mtn_between_snow_showers-1024x539.jpg)
![gloves_are_necessary Gloves are necessary in this weather. I have to take mine off when snapping photographs because they prevent me from having the fine motor skills necessary to turn knobs and press buttons.](http://mountainharvestorganic.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/gloves_are_necessary-1024x767.jpg)
