This is the the Asian variety of chives with a hint of garlic flavor. It is thought that these originated in the southwestern parts of the Chinese province of Shanxi, and cultivated and naturalized elsewhere in Asia and around the world. We find them especially great in salad dressings, a topping for potatoes, and fabulous for flavoring crepe batter. These chives can be chopped into stuffing for dumplings, eggs, spring rolls, crepes, stir-fries, etc. The possibilities are endless.
