Our favorite way, is to boil them, and eat them as a snack. If we have a good season for this crop, we find ourselves making making humus. with the beans. If you want a real treat, make falafel with these beans. The beans can be fried, causing the skin to split open, and then salted and/or spiced to produce a savory, crunchy snack. These are popular in China, Malaysia, Colombia, Peru (habas saladas), Guatemala (habas), Mexico (habas con chile), Gilan (North of Iran) and Thailand (where their name means “open-mouth nut”). The Latin name for this bean is Vicia faba which are also known as; broad bean, fava bean, faba bean, field bean, bell bean, or tic bean.
