We love this Thai basil because of it’s larger leaves for use in spring rolls. It can also be used as an edible ornamental with showy flowers. Very uniform, upright habit. Flat, 2-3″ long leaves that are larger than typical Thai types; purple stems and dark, purple-red flower bracts. Cinnamon/clove flavor with hints of anise. Slower growing and slow to bolt; needs a long, warm season for cut-flower use. Has demonstrated very good downy mildew tolerance in our field trial. Popular among the cuisines of Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, Thai basil has a pleasing aroma similar to sweet basil and is generally used fresh in recipes. It is especially delicious in Spring Rolls, Soups and in Salads. It also makes a refreshing hot or cold tea. You can be creative and make these thai basil zoodles.
