Cinnamon basil, also known as Mexican spice basil,[5] has a spicy, fragrant aroma and flavor. It contains methyl cinnamate, giving it a flavor reminiscent of cinnamon. The plants are tall, fast-growing plants have distinctive violet stems, veining, and flower bracts with lavender blooms and 2″ long leaves. We think the flavor resembles cloves. It is excellent chopped in salads, wrapped inside spring rolls or makes a refreshing hot or cold tea.
